Music — Aneesa Sheikh

The music

Aneesa Sheikh, who performs as ANEESA, is an independent American singer and guitarist. She records without a label, has released eighteen tracks, and sings in English, Urdu and Hindi.

Her most recent single, “Iconic,” came out on 7 July 2026. It began life as “Brooklyn to Bombay” — started in London, carried to Brooklyn, worked on in Michigan and finished in Mumbai — and was renamed because “iconic” was the word she kept saying while making it. It is high-energy pop with South Asian influences, folding Hindi and Urdu elements and a rap passage into its structure; producer Hriday Gatani built elements of Arabic-style music into the arrangement.

Her most-played song is “Down.” She names Jewel, Santana, Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus among her musical influences.
